Multi-sensor fusion platform for traffic monitoring systems.

What we offer:
A Research Group from Madrid region University has available sensor fusion technologies for surveillance applications, which are able to integrate and unify the information from different types of sensors and data in context through data fusion and computational intelligence techniques. Different types of sensors can be available in a wide-area surveillance system: radars, navigation readings from AIS (automatic identification system), ADS equipment in aircraft (automatic dependent surveillance), video cameras, etc. The system allows improving the global surveillance process and it reduces the necessity of the human attention and allows the introduction of decision systems that generate automatic alarms.

What we are looking for:
Technical cooperation with Industrial partners to integrate systems containing the sensors, software and user interface. Aerospace sector, traffic control systems, surveillance systems for safety and security, etc.

Object/person detection and tracking: once /object human instances are detected, they can be described using robust features, and then tracked.
Content-based copy detection: Detecting copies of images or video materials (usually including transformations such as addition, deletion, modification, camcording, etc.) important for copyright control, business intelligence and advertisement tracking, law enforcement investigations, etc.
Detection of abnormal behavior: detection of unusual events in video surveillance has been traditionally followed one of these two approaches: 1) explicit event detection (running”, “pointing”, “leaving/abandoning a baggage” or “using a cellphone”); and 2) deviation methods (events that substantially differ from usual activity).

What we are looking for:
The Multimedia Processing Group is interested in doing research work in this field. In particular, we are willing either to cooperate in the elaboration of research proposal applications to any national or international call, or to work directly for a company.

Infrared (IR) Sensors applied to Fire detection and to people’s safety.

What we offer:
A Madrid Region University research group has developed techniques for implementing IR sensors based on the spectral properties of fire and of phenomena previous to fire ignition, permitting early fire remote sensing and even the detection of fire risk; especially useful in sensor systems for wildfires fight, installed on towers, aerial satellite platforms. These sensors are based on the special IR spectral characteristics of fire as a combustion phenomenon that make its detection easier compared to other phenomena that although displaying high temperatures do not imply the presence of flames.
The use of these sensors implies a dramatic increase of early detection probability greatly reducing false alarm rate compared to current systems.

What we are looking for:
Manufacturing agreement. The cross-cutting character of the technology and LIR’s offer of design and definition of the specific sensor most suitable for a standard IR camera and application gives the option of purchasing this type of technology to almost any company. This is why its scope is universal.

Multi and Hyper-spectral passive Infrared (IR) Sensors for reliable detection of threats.

What we offer:
A Spanish research group has developed IR multi and hyper spectral analysis techniques for passive (no emitters) and reliable (low false alarm rate) threat sensing. Specifically, they are based on sensors development and spectral processing for classifying the scene to optimize the discrimination of threats from backgrounds, decoys or other spurious emitting sources, for a dramatic decrease of false alarm rate. Main features of Multi and Hyper spectral IR passive sensors are their capability of operating in the darkness (no emitting) and an important capability for avoiding the counter-measures of the menace or of the IR background itself by means of techniques of classification based on the analysis of distinctive spectral characteristics between both kinds of emitters.

What we are looking for:

What we offer:
A Madrid region University research group offers solutions in Identity Management for human beings (from Identification Cards to Biometrics). What we offer:
Spanish University research group offers the expertise of its members in the development of monitoring systems based on sensor networks. The competitive advantages of this technology are: Cost reduction, due to the optimization in the use of the resources and the availability of very low-cost sensors. Traffic Sign Recognition System

What we offer:
A research group from a Madrid region University offers an efficient recognition system for traffic signs using a set of classifiers. This system can be used as part of an active security system in cars. The fact that the system is based on a set of classifiers facilitates a distributed implementation, resulting in cheaper hardware and an improvement in fault-tolerance. The automatic selection of traffic sign characteristics and sign classification by means of specialized sets of classifiers makes the proposed system different to current systems.

Surveillance software based on agents system

What we offer:
A Madrid Region University research group has developed a surveillance system based on the agent’s theory and multiagents system in the Distributed Artificial Intelligence. The system allows that each data acquisition source could operate independently, but coordinated by a central host. The technology improves the surveillance process, reducing the human attention and introducing automatic alarms.
The surveillance system developed using agents technology and multiagent systems presents characteristics (adaptation, robust, …) that allow improving the global surveillance process due to the integration of a new acquisition technology. It reduces the necessity of the human attention and allows the introduction of decision systems that generate automatic alarms.

What we are looking for:
Technical cooperation is sought. This application can be used by companies dedicated specifically to the security and surveillance, by companies that need their own control system and by companies who supply technology to the surveillance sector.
The companies interested will collaborate in the definition of the number and type of acquisition systems. The specific tasks to be performed will depend on the interest of the company of developing their own surveillance system or the software development.

Lightweigth Adaptive fault-tolerant data storage system (AFTSYS)

What we offer:
A Research group from Madrid Region has been working on flexible and adaptive data storage systems for several years. The storage systems developed are featured by software governance, making them portable across different hardware storage resources, and their dynamic adaptability to the different circumstances of computer systems following the autonomic system paradigm. They also allow to getting high performance storage by using data distribution or striping across multiple devices.
This technology may be useful to dynamically manage fault-tolerant storage in those systems without a basic, or even none, local file system. It may reduce exploitation costs because it doesn’t need extraordinary investment. Moreover, management is easy and intuitive.

Evaluation of Security Protocols Implementations

What we offer:
The use of security protocols and architectures arise new problems, as interoperability between the different implementations, or a greater predisposition to suffer attacks that saturate the available computing resources, stand out.
This project puts forward a methodology that allows assessing the level of conformity with the standard of the implementation of a security protocol or architecture and, at the same time, evaluating the performance of said solution. Moreover, the specific goals are: Conformity analysis, Interoperability and Performance. In order to develop the methodology, firstly the identification of parameters that influence on conformity with the standard and performance is carried out.

What we are looking for:
The Group looks for Technical cooperation and/or Commercial agreement with technical assistance with organizations or companies within the telecommunications sector as well as those on the Information and Telecommunications security sector.
The potential target companies of the described procedure mainly fall into two different groups:
1) Any kind of organizations having equipment for the protection of communications
2) Companies manufacturing communication protection devices. Therefore, equipment manufacturers could use this procedure to support their interoperability capabilities and, in this way, increase their sales.

Authentication System based on ID-Network Smart Cards (ID-NSCards) for Critical Environments

What we offer:
Researchers at the Information Security area in a University of Madrid Region are interested in exploiting the potential of an emerging technology: network smart cards. These new devices have a number of additional advantages for communications security in networked systems, comparing to the traditional smart cards. These interesting features could be applied to individuals identification procedures in environments where critical tasks or operations take place. the identification and authentication of individuals or employees will be improved by means of a secure centralized service. An authentication system based on network id-cards allows us to provide robust mutual on-line identification and authentication procedures, as well as, the inter-working tasks.

What we are looking for:
Technical cooperation/ License agreement of industrial, institutional or research organization with development resources or interested in investing in an external development related to this technology is sought.
Specific area of activity of the partner: smart cards technology development with security focus.
Tasks to be performed: collaboration in the low level aspects of the design procedure. Development of a prototype with the goal to consider a potential manufactured solution.
